Was the absolute worst experience I’ve ever had with any company. I spent nearly 700 dollars for a replacement key fob for my Volkswagen and they didn’t even give me the correct key. They gave me this cheap plastic one that not only doesn’t have a key blade, but lacks some buttons and functions the original has. It took them over a week to get the job done, first it was supposed to be the next day, then the day after, and on and on until they eventually did the job. The customer service people are liars as well, they told me they needed a deposit, then they’d do the job and give me a payment plan. Turns out the deposit isn’t even the deposit, so I eventually had to wait even longer so I could be able to pay the $700 full price. And this is the type of key I get. I paid $580 for this same service and not only did I get an ACTUAL Volkswagen key but they came and programmed it the same exact day the key arrived. I’m likely going to file a complaint with the ftc as this company basically scammed me. I would NOT recommend getting a key fob done with them.
Will not be using their services again. I had a simple bathroom lock that needed to be opened, nothing major. They said $29 for the service call but would refuse to give me a quote for actually opening the door until they saw it in person. I had even offered to send a picture which other local shops were fine with. All in I spent about $230 for a simple thing that took 10 minutes. Had they given me a quote upfront I would have gone to their competitor who quoted me $160 total for the service call and lockout.
I hired this company to program a new key for my vehicle after I lost mine. They sent a technician who said his name was Adam (it wasn’t his real name), who worked on my car for 2 hours, only to tell me that he couldn’t finish the job - that only the dealership could do it. Fine, I towed my car to the dealership and they quoted me $300 total, when Sure Lock & Key had quoted me $1000. My car stayed at the dealership for 3 weeks while their best mechanic worked to figure out what was going on. They determined that the earlier technician had messed with my dashboard circuitry, which was entirely unnecessary for key reprogramming, and that he shorted it. My final bill was $3700. The dealership strongly urged me to get restitution from Sure Lock & Key, as they were certain that their technician did all the damage to my car, but the company refused to let me speak with a manager, and then refused to help in anyway. They even told me that their technician mysteriously “no longer worked there” when I asked if he’d simply tell me what he did so the mechanics at the dealership could undo it. They also blamed me for the issue. Bad people, shady company with horrific customer service. Stay away.
