Recent reviews show mixed experiences. Positive notes cite quick arrivals, clear explanations, and successful lock fixes. Critical feedback raises concerns about pricing transparency, service call fees, and coordination with third-party technicians. Prospective customers often mention wanting firm estimates before dispatch.
I called Eli to fix the multipoint lock that was not working correctly on my lanai door. He was at my house for less than 5 minutes. He tried telling me that I wasn’t locking and unlocking the door correctly, which is completely inaccurate. He did absolutely nothing to repair my lock. Then tried charging me $75 for a service call, then dropped it to $50 if I would pay in cash. It still will not unlock correctly. I do not recommend him to repair a lock.
Avoid Eli’s Lock and Key. I was charged $1,199.99 to remove and replace a basic residential deadbolt.Despite the description online, this is NOT a local business. The technician who came did not have the right tools, did not know how to remove the old deadbolt, and had to make two trips to the hardware store to buy tools.I was billed $580 for deadbolt replacement plus $89.99 service call plus $350 labor (about 1.5 hours), and an additional $80 “service” fee. That's $1,100 labor and fees to change a deadbolt! After complaining, it was reduced to $919.99, which is still hundreds too high. These charges appear to be double/triple billing for the same work. I contacted the owner to question these fees, but my call was never returned.Be very careful and get pricing in writing before agreeing to anything. I certainly learned my lesson.
Eli's Lock and Key delivered awesome service! They arrived quickly, explained everything clearly, and fixed my lock without any hassle. The technician was friendly, professional, and really knew what he was doing. The price was reasonable and the whole process was super smooth. I'd definitely call them again and recommend them to anyone who needs reliable locksmith help!
$779 to change a lock. They outsourced to the another company after stating someone would be there in 45 minutes. After 2 hours, someone arrived from another company. The tech who did the service was great, but that 5 minutes was almost $800. I asked the tech for the price and he had to call the owner. I spoke with the owner on the phone after seeing the invoice. Even the tech said it seemed very high. $300 for the lock, emergency service fee of $179 and $300 for the service call. I’m all for paying for weekend service, but the last time we had a locksmith come out (two months ago; they were unavailable for this job), it was $250 total! This company seems to reroute calls, use multiple names, etc making it difficult to track down their google listing - which seems intentional so you cannot leave a bad review. Overall a mess.
After waiting an hour and a half the young man opened our car door and no more than 10 minutes. The owner was expecting $395 for a jim job to open the door. I told the tech there was no way I was paying that. I was never told up front that it was going to cost that much. Eli's agreed to $200, in my opinion still too much. I understand night charges, but that's a little ridiculous. When I spoke to Eli's they told me a tech would be there in 30 minutes. At 45 minutes I called back and was told he'd be there in 15 minutes. Another 20 minutes later I called back and was told the tech would be there and in 5 minutes. He was there close to 5 minutes later. The young man that opened our door was great. Definitely ask for a full disclosure of prices before you hire this company. From reading other reviews, I am seeing that this is a blindsiding company.
